Afternoon!
Does anyone have any information on bus travel in Sri Lanka, or know where I should be looking? I just can’t seem to find ANY bus travel information online, and surely there must be a system in place with timetables etc?
I’m actually writing an article that needs the information but we’re also looking to travel from Galle to Mirissa in 2 days so if you know anything about just that journey then please let me know!
Sri Lanka is not US or UK. Common people can’t accord a smartphone. Don’t expect a timetable online.
Galle to Mirrisa is super easy on bus route Colombo-Matara along the coast. Runs very frequently. Be prepared for the location where you want to get off. Bus assistant will help you and only charge the right bus fare.
Welcome to a small adventure in 3rd world country. Galle is already very easy in comparison to the east coast.
Buses go all the time from Galle to Mirissa/Matara. You just go to Matara road, find a yellow square on the ground and sign of the bus, that’s a bus stop. When you see the bus driving like crazy you wave at it and it will stop. Or you can go to the bus station in Galle and just ask the first driver/ticket conductor you’ll see and they will guide you. Bus 02 is the craziest and fastest one, doesn’t really stop anywhere. Bus 350 is more chilled. Basically higher number=slower bus. The conductor will inform you when you will be in Mirissa, there are 3 stops in the village...
All I know it is go to the main road and jump in one. They come frecquently.
Have you checked this
